Issue number

The Angry Birds and the Equestria Girls: Stella Through the Mirror is a comic book, which is the first issue of The Angry Birds and the Equestria Girls franchise. It takes place before and during the events shown in the first film. Like the franchise that spawned it,it is labeled with the Angry Birds Legends banner, making it non-canon to the Angry Birds Movie Universe. It is also non-canon to the first film.

In Las Redgas,Stella and the Slingshot Strike Force have been defeating Ultra Master Pig's minion pigs for minutes until a crack has been formed on the road, which made Stella fall into Equestria. She discovers a mirror that allows her to travel into another universe. In this universe,Stella sees that the world around her is like her home on the movie universe's Earth. She explores that world's Equestria to see that the places and people are like the Earth she was in. After exploring, she returns to the portal of that world and gets hit by the head by a magical crown. Stella takes the crown and goes to Canterlot High School to report it to the school's principal,Celestia, who Stella mistakes it for a prop for the princess of the school's dance, the Fall Formal.

When Stella went outside of the school, she sees a girl named Twilight Sparkle and her dog,Spike. Twilight and Stella investigate the school to see that this world is home to other humans which Stella hasn't seen before. They defend the human Fluttershy from being bullied by Sunset Shimmer, the girl who stole the crown. Fluttershy talks to Stella about the latter coming to their world. Twilight then receives Celestia's permission to run for Fall Formal Princess against Sunset, the reigning princess of the dance, to recover the crown.

While continuing to explore school life, Stella and Twilight discover that the counterparts of Fluttershy and Twilight's friends – Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash – have all separated out of animosity towards each other. Sunset, learning of Twilight and Stella's campaign against her, sends her cohorts Snips and Snails to record a humiliating video of Twilight behaving like a pony, which is posted online and viewed by the entire school. Stella explains what was going on when the video was posted and compares it to her experiences as a young bird. Then, the counterparts of Twilight's friends come to their aid, only to argue among themselves, revealing the cause of their rift to be a series of treacherous text messages and emails they supposedly sent each other. Through Twilight's postulation, the six girls realize that Sunset sent these messages to deceive them. Reconciling, the six help Twilight perform a public dance routine for her campaign, which improves Twilight's image.

In another attempt to undermine Twilight and Stella, Sunset wrecks the formal decorations in the school gym and uses edited photographs to frame Twilight for the act. Although Sunset's ex-boyfriend Flash Sentry proves Twilight's innocence, the formal is forced to be postponed the night after the portal to Equestria closes. Twilight and Spike reveal their true identities to the other six, convincing them to help urgently repair the damage. Under Twilight's direction, they rally the other students and Stella and successfully get the formal back on schedule, earning Twilight and Stella even more of the school's support.

On the night of the formal, Twilight wins the election and the crown, but Sunset steals it back in a scuffle after kidnapping Spike and threatening to destroy the portal to Equestria. Upon donning the crown, Sunset transforms into a demonic creature and hypnotizes the other students, revealing her intent to conquer Equestria with the school as her army. When Sunset attacks Twilight, her friends, and Stella, their friendship activates the crown's magic, shielding them and giving the six girls pony-like ears, wings and tails while Stella gets her power to defeat Sunset. The girls use their powers to revert Sunset and their schoolmates to normal. Sunset tearfully apologizes for her actions, humbled by the power of the girls' friendship. After celebrating at the formal and placing Sunset under her friends' care, Twilight and Spike return to Equestria with the crown as the portal closes. After Twilight and Spike leave,Stella stays with Twilight's friends' human counterparts. She says to the reader that even birds like her can be friends with other characters from different franchises.

In a post-credits scene,Red and the other Angry Birds are revealed to be in Equestria in which they discover the mirror portal. He discovers that it's a portal to another dimension so he leads the other birds to the mirror portal, setting up sequels to the comic.
